DRYDEN, John RELIGIO LAICI OR A LAYMANS FAITH. A POEM
London Jacob Tonson 1682 First Edition Small quarto (6-1/8" x 8-1/4")
bound in half red morocco with matching corners and marbled paper with
five raised bands and gilt lettering on the spine, all edges gilt.
[16], 28 pages. The second of three issues and the earliest one
realistically obtainable. According to Dryden's bibliographer, Hugh
Macdonald, the first issue is known in only two copies.Grolier: Wither
to Pryor 315; Macdonald 16 a ii; Pforzheimer 337; Wing D-2342. Pages
trimmed close in a few instances, once or twice touching the top line.
