fold-out maps, 1 table. .
      Important study of changes in battlefield tactics from Frederick the
Great of Prussia to the Russo-Turkish War. Historical summary of tactical
changes includes the Napoleonic era, the Crimean War, the American Civil
War, Campaigns of 1866, etc. Examples drawn from modern battles such as
Leuthen, Vitoria, Alma, Sedan, Lovtcha, etc., illustrated with battle maps
folding out from the text. Also included is a fold-out table of "Details of
Modern Military Rifles," which includes information such as magazine system,
number of cartridges in magazine, length and weight with and without
bayonet, etc. This second edition was published in the same year as the
first. Red cloth over boards with black lettering and rule to spine and
boards. Mild browning to endpapers, brief pencil notation concerning
original acquisition cost on rear free endpaper. One folding map has been
torn out along inner margin but is still present. It is not otherwise worn
or torn, nor are the other maps and table. The book has only light external
edge wear. Hinges not cracked. Very handsome copy but with one map loose.
