1.  BARCLAY, ROBERT, 1648-1690.  APOLOGY FOR THE TRUE CHRISTIAN 
DIVINITY, AS THE SAME IS HELD FORTH, AND PREACHED, BY THE PEOPLE, 
CALLED IN SCORN, QUAKERS, AN. London: Sowle, 1701. English fourth 
edition. Nineteenth century 3/4 black morocco with marbled boards. 
Very good. The leather is rubbed at extremities, with a split at the 
top of the front hinge. some worming to corner of the last few pages, 
not affecting text. Important work on Quaker theology.  $360.00

2.  BROWNING, CHARLES. H.  WELSH SETTLEMENT OF PENNSYLVANIA. 
Philadelphia: William J. Campbell, 1912. Illustrated by 17 maps and 
pictures. First edition. Beige cloth with black titling at spine; 
t.e.g. Thick 8vo. [631 pgs] Near fine. This is the original, not a 
reprint. Welsh Quaker emigration to Pennsylvania, including  lists of 
settlers, land patents, accounts by the settlers and maps. Fine name 
index and subject index. Invaluable to PA genealogists. Ex-Lib but 
few marks, uncirculated; blind stamp to half-title page, number 
stamped at base of dedication page, shadow of label at spine. 
Previous owner's attractive book-plate at paste down.  Decorative 
labels at front and rear boards.Very clean and sound.  $150.00

3.  WIGHT, THOMAS AND RUTTY, JOHN.  HISTORY OF THE RISE AND PROGRESS 
OF THE PEOPLE CALLED QUAKERS IN IRELAND FROM THE YEAR 1653 TO 
1700......TO WHICH IS ADDED, A CONTINUATION OF THE SAME HISTORY TO 
THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 1751....AND A TREATISE OF THE CHRISTIAN 
DISCIPLINE EXERCISED AMONG THE SAID PEOPLE, A. Dublin: I. Jackson, 
1751. First as such edition. Very early cloth binding (ca. 1830); 
brown cloth with black & gilt leather title label. 7.75" x 6". [484/8 
pgs] Near fine. Previous owner's signature at ffep, Lucy Tyson 
Fitzhugh.  Handwritten history of family "Brooke & Tyson", at free 
end papers, with information of owner (signature at ffep) at rear end 
paper, dated 1907.  Original owner signature, James Brookse  at title 
page, with notation at bottom of page, James Brooke, died in 1767 
aged 37 years. Last index leaf repaired, with some loss to margins 
Some minor shelf wear to extremities, one 2" tear to cloth at front 
hinge.  Contents are tight and sound. Important source for Quaker 
history. A fine copy of a rare book. Bradshaw 1623.  $625.00

4.  WOOLMAN, JOHN.  WORKS OF JOHN WOOLMAN (1720-1772, THE. 
Philadelphia: Crukshank, 1775. Second edition. Rebound in full blue 
morocco gilt, original end-papers present. [431 pgs] Near fine. 
Foxing throughout. In two parts. Includes Woolman's famous journal 
and his treatises on "Keeping of Negroes", "Merchandizing" and 
"Sailor's Life".  Woolman was an itinerant Quaker preacher who 
traveled through the colonies, both north and south, speaking out 
against slavery. "An autobiographical masterpiece, rivaled in 
eighteenth century America only by that of Franklin". Howes W670.
