Here's the deal- we have this book listed at $250, and will sell it for
$175, a 30% discount, IF the buyer will send $25.00 to the ABAA Benevolent
Fund, a contribution we will match.

So, you pay us $175 and send an extra $25 to the Benevolent Fund (so you
are spending a total of $200) and we will match your contribution and send
$25 to the Benevolent Fund ourselves.

I hope that's clear; if not, please ask me to try to make it clearer. See
the bottom of this email for details about the ABAA Benevolent Fund.

Here's the book-

Demours, A.P. "PRECIS THEORIQUE ET PRATIQUE SUR LES MALADIES DES YEUX"

Paris; Chez L'Auteur: 1821.

Demours, a member of the Royal Academy and the Legion of Honor, is perhaps
most famous for his grand 1818 study "Traite des Maladies des Yeux", which
was illustrated with vivid colored plates. This scholarly work is dedicated
to the members of the Academie Royale de Medicine, and is signed by the
author. Hardcover. 5"x8", xvi + 598 + a 4-page catalog of other medical
books by the publisher + 2 pages of tiny manuscript writing at the rear.
Bound in full period grained calf with gilt spine decorations, a red
leather spine label, and marbled endpapers. Bookplate of the Janus
Foundation. Covers with some minor scuffing, contents fine and clean. The
several pages of tiny handwritten notes in French at the end are of the
period but are fairly undecipherable. [00784] $250.00

---------THE ABAA BOOKSELLER'S BENEVOLENT FUND-----------

The Bookseller's Benevolent Fund, run by the Antiquarian Bookseller's
Association of America, is a non-profit charity fund established by the
ABAA in 1952 to benefit any bookseller (whether an ABAA member or not -most
are not) in time of personal need. The Fund has given out more money than
it has taken in this year, and is at its lowest point in several years.

The address is-

Antiquarian Booksellers' Benevolent Fund
c/o Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America
20 West 44th Street
New York, NY 10036-6604

It's a worthy cause- anyone else who is thinking of giving back a little
this Holiday Season, please know that all contributions are welcome and
appreciated.
