One of several beautifully bound leather sets in our list of New
Arrivals for February at http://www.erols.com/agvent

BURROUGHS, JOHN. THE WRITINGS OF JOHN BURROUGHS IN NINETEEN VOLUMES.
Boston: Houghton Mifflin 1904-1916. Nineteen octavo (6" x 8-3/4")
volumes, Copy #285 of 750 sets of the Autograph Edition SIGNED by the
author and the publisher. Beautifully bound in full purple levant
morocco with red morocco inlays on both covers and spine with gilt
decorations and lettering; brown morocco doublures and watered silk
endpapers, uncut. Illustrated with numerous photogravures and etchings
from photographs and drawings by Herbert Gleason, Louis Agassiz
Fuertes, and others. Twenty-three volumes were eventually published,
but the set seems to be found with nineteen volumes just as often as
it is with twenty-three, and rarely is it found in such a sumptuous
binding and in such lovely condition. Three volumes with some
scratches on their rear covers but essentially without defect and
brilliant on the shelf. Luxurious set. $6000
