TRAUBEL, HORACE [WALT WHITMAN]. WITH WALT WHITMAN IN CAMDEN: 3 VOLUME 
SET INSCRIBED BY TRAUBEL AND NOTED COLLECTORS. New York: 
Appleton/Mitchell Kennerley 1908/1908/1914. Three volumes in the 
original green cloth, gilt, illustrated with a plethora of tipped-in 
reproductions from photographs, facsimiles, and a folding facsimile of 
Whitman's will. The first volume covers the period March 28 - July 14, 
1888; the second July 16 - October 31, 1888; and the third March 28 - 
July 14, 1888 and November 1, 1888 - January 20, 1889. The first 
volume has a 3-page SIGNED INSCRIPTION by Traubel covering the 
pastedown and both sides of the front endpaper. Traubel comments on 
the Appleton imprint for the book and INSCRIBES the volume warmly to 
noted collector William Gable. The second volume is also INSCRIBED and 
SIGNED by Traubel as well as by Gable to a descendant, James H. 
Powers. The third volume is INSCRIBED and SIGNED by Powers at a much 
later date to another collector, La Fayette Lentz Butler. Fine, 
sparkling set with distinguished provenance.    $750
