Bible and Sun in St. Paul's. First Newbery Edition.  Advertisements on last 
8 pages: "The following little books are printed for J. Newbery, in St. 
Paul's church-yard, London. This is the first edition of this title 
published by Newbery. It has always been rare. Roscoe (J 31) Signatures: 
A-U8. There is one copy noted as being in the USA, in the Colonial 
Williamsburg collection [VCW]. It was the copy of Wilbur Macey Stone, one 
of the pioneer collectors of childrens' books, childrens' bibles and 
miniature books. His copy lacks the frontispiece. The only other copy noted 
on OCLC is the copy[from the Opie's collection?] now at Oxford[EQO]. Not in 
Osborne, UCLA, Indiana or Southern Mississippi. COPAC adds no new 
locations. This copy is still in the original Dutch paper covered boards, 
but it has a new calf spine and title piece in gilt. The pages are pure 
white without foxing or any other stain, as are the plates, which are very 
well printed. An optimum copy. $2175.00
