Myer, Reginald. CHATS ON OLD ENGLISH TOBACCO JARS. London; Sampson Low,
Marston & Co., Ltd.: [1930]. A gentle, meandering stroll through the
collection of an early tobacco jar enthusiast. Myer had about 150 such
containers in his collection at the time, and not only illustrates and
describes them as best he can, but also writes about how he collected
them, and the history and uses of tobacco boxes. At the end he reprints
the rare 1824 book concerning the famous and fabulous Westminster Tobacco
Box, including the illustrations from the original publication, and a
current photograph as well. Hardcover. 8"x10", xvi + 111 + [14] + [ii]
pages; many b/w plates. Covers with some soil, hinges a bit shaken, text
browned, as usual; very light wrinkling along the top of the last plates;
short stain to edge of rear cover. [04991] $100.00
