By far the earliest work on the subject to appear in California,
this edition to appear after the adoption of the 1872 codes;
glossed and complemented by extensive forms, with subsequent
additions pasted in carrying the work through 1877 & 1878.

A very attractive "gentleman's set" bound in a full, modern tan
calf, the spines nicely gilt, exceptionally fresh; second editions
of volumes 1 and 2, first editions of volumes 3 and 4.

Last 17th century edition of one of two valuable works singled out
by Holdsworth as the fruits of Prynne's scholarship in seeing
published the previously unprinted public records of the Kingdom;
not that common, three copies in the UK in Wing.

One of the three printings in 1725 of the will of the eccentric
bookseller, Thomas Guy, whose penurious personal habits were
matched by his exceptional generosity upon his death, his will
leaving the monies which established Guy's Hospital.
