On March 25, 1965, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. led 25,000 marchers to
the state capitol in Montgomery, Ala., to protest the denial of voting
rights to blacks.

----------------------

[Texas Slaves] "AN ACT FOR CARRYING INTO EFFECT THE TREATY BETWEEN HER
MAJESTY AND THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS FOR THE SUPPRESSION OF THE AFRICAN SLAVE
TRADE" April 11th, 1843.

The Treaty was signed on November 16th, 1840, and is reprinted here in
full. It was ratified June 18th, 1842, and the last 4 pages of this Act
spell out the authorizations and details for carrying it into effect. A
very interesting sidelight on English attempts to stop the American slave
traders. Disbound. 7.5"x11.5", 16 pages, light soil; disbound from a
larger compilation. [02502] $175.00
