1895. 1st edition. Later issue binding, gray cloth stamped in brown no
inserted publisher’s catalogue at rear. This is the variant with all
edges trimmed, Curry (F) (1). 10,00 copies printed, of which 6000 copies
were bound in cloth and 1500 in wrappers in mid-1895, remaining sheets
were bound as needed, and unsold copies of the wrappers issue were
trimmed and rebound in cloth. This copy measures 17.6 cm vertically.

Original gray cloth stamped in brown with the sphinx design on front
panel. Very slightly shaken and endpapers lightly foxed, covers
moderately soiled and rubbed (as is common with this volume), overall, a
very good copy.

A highspot of modern literature and a major work of science fiction.
