preserve the liberties of the English people in the face of the
King's (and Pitt's) efforts to enact legislation leading to the

The best sampler of the varied talents of Cotton, whose famed
library was later incorporated into the British Museum; with essays

The principal collection of Jenkins' political and constitutional
theory, almost all written while he was imprisoned during the
Interregnum, ably defending the King in Parliament, and both
reflecting Coke and anticipating the Glorius Revolution.
