Limited to Four Hundred and Forty Copies of which Four Hundred are for sale.
This is number 381 (hand lettered). A scare edition of George Washington's
"Debit & Credit" entries; detailing the expenditures and movements of his
duties as Commander In Chief, and his personal expenses.  John C.
Fitzpatrick, Assistant Chief Manuscript Division of the Library of Congress,
provides annotations and explanatory notes which are based on original
vouchers, receipts, and loose memoranda, which were transferred from the
Treasury Dept. to the Library of Congress, to be placed with the great
collection of Washington papers there. Frontispiece engraving of George
Washington; engraving of his home to title page. "These accounts present a
mass of valuable Revolutionary detail, not the least important of which are
the foundation outlines for a complete history of the secret service of the
Revolution and the materials for a comprehensive study of the Headquarters
of the Continental Army". Bound in three quarter vellum with pale blue paper
boards, gilt trim to vellum, gilt lettering to spine, mild spoil, with a
faint crease at top edge. Pastedown previous owners signature and no. of
