FRANKLIN,  Benjamin.  OEUVRES DE M. FRANKLIN....  Paris:
         Quillau,  Esprit  1773. New Edition. First Collected  Edition
         in French  of  Franklin's  EXPERIMENTS  AND  OBSERVATIONS  ON
         ELECTRICITY.  Quarto,  contemporary calf with  gilt-decorated
         spine.  Ford  315. Translated from the English of the  Fourth
         Edition  by M. Barbeu Dubourg with new additions in the  form
         of letters  by  Dubourg and replies by Franklin  on  subjects
         such as  the  cause of the common cold and  the  relationship
         between  magnetism and electricity. Two volumes bound in one,
         with half  titles  and 12 plates but lacking the portrait  of
         Franklin.  The first volume is entirely on electricity; while
         the second  is  on a variety of subjects  including  meteors,
         music,  Pennsylvania,  innoculation,  etc,  illustrating  the
         brilliant mind of the famous American scientist, philosopher,
         and politician.  Bookplates  of  A.   Derome,  Capitaine  and
         Harvard  College with small Harvard blindstamp on title  page
         and the  first  page of text. Very Good copy.  Joints  partly
         split but tight; minor edgewear and foxing.          $1500.00
