DIZIONARIO PORTATILE DELLE BELLE ARTI...

[Jacques] Lacombe.
Venice; 1781. 3rd ed.

Italian edition of a popular arts dictionary which included both artists
and art terms in the fields of the fine arts, architecture, sculpture and
music. First published in France in 1752, the first Italian edition was
published in 1758. Lacombe was a prolific author of catholic tastes -he
also wrote books about the Poetics of Voltaire and a history of revolutions
in the Russian Empire.

5.5"x8", 390 pages; bound in contemporaneous semi-limp paper-covered boards
with a hand-lettered spine. Covers somewhat soiled, some light internal
soil and a few scattered spots as well as one or two hinge cracks. There is
an old ownership monogram stamp on the title page. Overall a nice copy of a
dictionary which obviously saw much use, in an appealing period binding.
[29731] $250.00
