         Second  Edition.  Two  volumes  bound in  one.  Small  octavo
         (3-3/4"  x  6-1/8") bound in contemporary calf  recently  and
         sympathetically    rebacked  with   gilt  decorations   and a
         gilt-lettered  red morocco spine label. With 16-page list  of
         subscribers  and with Sterne's engraved arms on D3v of Volume
         II. Bound  without  half-titles and leaf  of  advertisements.
         Sterne's  final novel and one of the earliest examples of the
         "stream-of-consciousness"   literary  technique.   The  First
         Edition  sold  out within a month, and this followed  shortly
         thereafter. Clean, attractive, Near Fine copy.        $750.00
