Benjamin, Edward H. [et al]. CALIFORNIA MINES AND MINERALS.
San Francisco; California Miners' Association:1899.
"Published...for the California Meeting of the American Institute of Mining
Engineers." This wonderful survey includes massive amount of information on
California minerals, ores, mines and mining at the end of the 19th century.
The illustrations include many photographs of mines and miners.
Hardcover. 6.5"x9", 450 pages with many b&w illustrations, 2 folding
charts and 3 folding maps; plus 48 pages of advertisements for
mining-related equipment and industries, most of it California-based. Bound
in old pebbled cloth with a functional leather spine and tips. I wish this
was in better shape. It has moderate water damage to the lower portion of
the covers, obvious but not seriously objectionable; inside a
light/moderate water ripple, and a bit of staining is also evident along
the bottom edge, especially in the first 50 or so pages. There has been a
small amount of adhesion at the very edges of some of the pages, not
affecting any text or images. A working copy, but a pretty good one, with
tight hinges and otherwise clean. [29208] $275.00
