HELLER,  Joseph. CATCH-22. New York: Simon & Schuster 1961.  First
Edition.  Heller's influential first book, basis for the popular  film
and  responsible for a term used to describe that area between a  rock
and  a  hard place. Published in October 1961 this copy  is  INSCRIBED
and  SIGNED  by the author in December 1961 to---- "With best  regards
from/Stu  Hyatt,  and with the/hope that this book will/give you  some
pleasure/Joseph  Heller/December  21, 1961/New York." Color  of  cloth
faded  as  often the case. Closed one-inch tear to the top  and  small
puncture  near  the  spine  of  the front panel  of  the  first  issue
dustwrapper  which maintains a dark blue color as does the spine.  Two
very  small tears and creases to the top and bottom of the rear  panel
which    features  Heller's  photograph.  Very   Good  in  Very   Good
dustwrapper. Scarce early inscription.                        $7500.00
