(No. 7228 )  Harris, William CO.. THE ANGLER'S GUIDE BOOK AND TOURISTS'
GAZETTEER OF THE FISHING WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA, 1885.
New York: The American Angler, (1884). First printing, Full cloth,
Duodecimo, 250, ax, [viii] pages. Good.
      Guide to over 7,000 angling waters, giving information on the cost of
guides, boats, and accommodations, best months for fishing, favored methods
used by locals, how best to reach the sites, and more. Nice section of
advertisements at rear featuring tackle, rubber waders, railroad lines,
hotels, etc. HAND #H161. Bound in dark green pebbled cloth over boards with
gilt-stamped spine and upper board. Mild rubs to cloth, some fraying at
extremities. Both front and rear endpapers split along hinges, textblock
still secure in binding. Some age toning and a few finger soil marks inside.

SKETCHES BY LOVERS OF THE ART, WITH ILLUSTRATIONS OF STANDARD FLIES.
Manchester, VT: CO. IF. Orvis, 1883. First printing, Full cloth, Duodecimo,
[iv], 302 pages, Colored plates. Good.
      Collection of 22 fishing stories, including F. E. Pond on the Poetry
of Fly Fishing; Seth Green on How to Cast a Fly; L. A. Beardslee on the
Salmon and Trout of Alaska; Fred Mather on the Grayling; A. Louis Miner, Jr.
on Fly-Fishing in the Yosemite; and much more. Illustrated with 15 color
plates lithographed by Milton Bradley and showing flies made by Charles
Orvis. BRUNS #O18; HAND #O97. Bound in original mustard-colored decorated
cloth over boards. Title page illustration by Vedder. Some mild bumps and
rubbing to cloth at spine ends, with slight fraying at top fore corners of
boards. Cloth is splitting along bottom 1.25" of lower joint. Front hinge
cracked, a couple of signatures beginning to pull. Overall an attractive
copy but with the mechanics of the binding weakening.    $350.00
