For your consideration two uncommon books by Rev. David Simpson.
A Plea for the Deity of Jesus, and the Doctrine of the Holy Trinity; Being a
Chronological View of what is related concerning the Person of Christ, the
Holy Spirit, and the Trinity; whether in the Scared Writings, or in Jewish,
Heathen, and Christian Authors, W. Brown, London, 1812:
Originally written in 1796; Rev. Simpson opinions and testaments to the
Deity of Jesus. Using arguments against it stated, and answered, historical
information concerning the Messiah for the first 3000 years of the world. He
relates information concerning the Messiah from the Psalms, writings of
David, Solomon, the prophets Amos, Hosea, Isaiah, Micha, etc., and
observations on name Jehovah; opinions of Ancients and Moderns on the Divine
Appearances, under the Old Testament, testimonies of his character from his
Disciples and Apostles, Christ's manner of working miracles, Christ's
Divinity argued from several passages in the Epistle to the Hebrews, views
of doctrine concerning the Holy Spirit from the Old and New Testaments, and
so fourth. Included is A Memoir (and letters) of the Author and The Spirit
of Modern Socinianism Exemplified, by Edward Parsons. David Simpson,
(1745-1799), County of York, England., he wrote various other works on
Christianity, such as "A Key to the Prophecies;". which we have in inventory
also. Frontispiece nice engraving of Rev. Simpson. Full brown calf, various
small rub markings to boards, extremities rubbed. Nice clean red title panel
to spine with gilt lettering. Upper joint 1/2 spilt, chip to edge, lower
spine end 1/4 chip. Foxing throughout, however, print is good size and very
dark, easy to read. Clean, tightly bound. (xxxix) 592 pp. 8 vo. In archival

Simpson, Rev. David, A Key to the Prophecies; or, a Concise View of the
Predictions contained in the Old and New Testaments, Which have been
fulfilled, and are now fulfilling, or yet to be fulfilled in the Latter Ages
of The World, Hutton Watson, New Castle Upon Tyne, England, 1812:
Rev. Simpson's treatise on miracles and prophecies as stated in the Old and
New Testaments; by analysis of historical events, and the Gospels. "In the
year 1666, appeared the false Messiah Sabatai Tzevi (famous kabbalist -
founder of Sabbatean Movement), who made so great a noise and gained such a
number of proselytes. He was born at Aleppo, imposed on the Jews for a
considerable time; but afterwards, with a view of saving his life, turned
Mahometan, and was at last beheaded". Rev. Simpson goes on a some length of
this history. Chapters cover: Miracles and Prophecies; On the Chain of the
Prophecy; Misc. Prophecies which have been fulfilled; Prophecies concerning:
Ancient Kingdoms, Messiah, by Jesus Christ, of Christ and his Apostles
concerning false Prophets, Christ's and Teachers. These last three are
covered again in separate chapters. Prophetical: Persons and Things;
Parables and Miracles; now fulfilling the world (18th century); yet to be
fulfilled; On the corrupt Doctrines and Practices of the Church of Rome;
Ancient and Modern Creeds; Strictures on the Creed of Pope Pius IVth;
Conversion of the Jews; Suberversion of the Mahometans; The Millennium;
Promises and Threatenings of the Scripture; Destruction of the World by
Fire; Resurrection and Last Judgment. The second part of the book addresses
"Strictures on the Book of Revelation". The book contains an account of the
life of Rev. Simpson. David Simpson, (1745-1799), County of York, England.,
he wrote various other works on Christianity, such as "A Plea for the Deity
of Jesus and of the Doctrine of the Trinity". which we have in inventory
also. Frontispiece engraving of Rev. Simpson. Full brown calf, red title
panel with gilt lettering to spine. Front hinge has been worked on, tender,
showing split areas at joint, 1/4 inch chip to upper edge of joint. Mild
rubbing of boards and extremities, hinge cracked. Mild damp stain to upper
corner of pre-lim page to first page of contents. Frontispiece clear.
Off-setting of oval frontispiece to title page. Mild foxing, text bright,
