edition.      Leather-backed cloth, moderate spine wear and some 
light spotting of covers,
14 1/2 X 10 1/2 inches.  SIGNED inscription by Otto Struve (noted 
astronomer & Director of the Academy) to Herr Repsold, who 
contributed the chapter
on the technical description of the instruments. Eleven nice plates 
(one folding), including "phototypes" by the St. Petersburg 
photographer W. Clasen
( views of the observatory and laboratory; mechanisms of the 
Regulator & the Mikrometer;  & the 30-inch telescope and its round 
building.)  The plates are clean and on heavy paper.  OCLC & RLIN 
between them record only five
copies (four in the US & one at Cambridge.) (A biography of Struve 
can be found in the Dictionary of Scientific Biography, where no less 
than 6 members
of the Struve family are listed - all astronomers.)  Uncommon.   $300.00
