1.  BROUGH, ROBERT. B[ARNABAS].  CRACKER BON-BON FOR CHRISTMAS 
PARTIES: CONSISTING OF CHRISTMAS PIECES, FOR PRIVATE REPRESENTAION 
AND OTHER SEASONABLE MATTER, IN PROSE AND VERSE, A. London: David 
Bogue, 1852. Illustrated by a hand-colored frontis by H. G. Hine and 
many black and white engraving in text. First edition. Full morocco 
gilt , a. e. g., florets in spine compartments and inner dentelles by 
Zaehnsdorf with marbled end papers. Fine. There is slight darkening 
to two edges of the boards from sun exposure. Also slight weakness to 
the front hinge.The original red cloth gilt decorative front panel 
and spine is bound in at rear. Laid-in is a charming hand-painted 
Christmas card from the same person who inscribed the book. Lovely

2.  BURKE, JOHN. BERNARD.  VISITATION OF THE SEATS AND ARMS OF THE 
NOBLEMEN AND GENTLEMEN OF GREAT BRITAIN, A.: Colburn & Co and Hurst 
and Blackett (successors to Colburn), 1852-54. Illustrated by well 
over 100 tinted lithographic plates and about 50 pages of engravings 
of coats of arms. All plates are like new and protected by tissue 
guards. 4 volumes. Contemporary three quarter crushed brown morocco 
with raised bands green paper-covered boards and gilt lettering, 
t.e.g. by Root, in near fine condition. Inscribed by the author, 
"With Sir Bernard Burke's kindest regards". No other writing in any 
volume. Small 4to. [Text about coats of arms, indices, plates and 999 
pgs] Fine. Very scarce complete set of the two series in four 
volumes. This is a survey of  the mansions and coats of arms of the 
landed gentry of England, Scotland and Ireland. It was written by the 
author of Burke's Peerage and Landed Gentry. Ironically, Burke was an 
Irishman. He was descended from an old Tipperary family. He was 
appointed Keeper of the State Papers of  Ireland in 1855. Not only is 
the binding in wonderful condition, but the contents are clean, crisp

3.  FORD, LAUREN.  LITTLE BOOK ABOUT GOD, THE. Garden City, NY: 
Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc., 1934. Illustrated by delightful 
color vignettes throughout, end-papers with color angels & animals, 
also includes an original color drawing of an angel signed by Lauren 
Ford tipped-in at second free end-paper . First edition. Red crushed 
morocco with a gilt embossed angel and titling to the front cover, 
raised bands and gilt embossed stars at spine, gilt dentelles; signed 
by The French Binders, Garden City NY. Signed by the author/artist. 
12mo. Near fine. Leather is lightly rubbed at front hinge of spine.

1869. Illustrated by Gilbert. First issue of first edition. Full 
morocco gilt , t. e. g., gilt rules to panels, florets in spine 
compartments and inner gilt dentelles by John Bumpus with marbled end 
papers. Near fine. Bookplate Sir David Salomons (1851-1925),only son 
of Philip Salomons and nephew to Sir David Salomons, first Jewish 
Lord Mayor of London. Scientist and Engineer, has been described as a 
gifted amateur with lots of talent. Old bookseller description

5.  KIPLING, RUDYARD, 1865-1936.  COLLECTION OF THE WORKS OF RUDYARD 
KIPLING, UNIFORMLY BOUND, A. London: Macmillan, 1890-1941. 28 
volumes. 3/4 navy blue morocco with lighter blue cloth-covered 
boards. Raised bands with gilt lettering in two compartments and gilt 
designs in the other four compartments. Gilt rules to boards and top 
edge gilt. Beautiful decorated end papers. Bound by Morrell of 
London. 8vo. Fine. All are in fine condition with the exception of a 
bit of foxing to some edges. The blue leather on spines has sunned to 
a uniform green blue. Uniform height but width sometimes varies. All 
but one published by Macmillan. The following are first editions: The 
Seven Seas 1896, Stalky and Co. 1899, Traffics and Discoveries 1904, 
Puck of Pook's Hill 1906, A Diversity of Creatures 1917, Letters of 
Travel 1920, A Book of Words 1928 and Limits and Renewals 1932. The

6.  KNIGHT, CHARLES.  OLD ENGLAND. London: James Sangster and Co, 
(1845-46). Illustrated by 12 color plates done by Knight's own newly 
patented method called "Patent Illuminated Printing", plus thousands 
of engravings in text. Fine indices of engravings. Later editions 
used more ordinary types of reproduction for the plates . First book 
edition. 3/4 brown morocco with cloth boards, raised bands by Walter 
Bleasdale, Bookbinders of Lancaster. The original cloth has been 
professionally replaced by cranberry-colored linen. Folio. [392, 404 
pgs] Near fine. 2 volumes in one. Some rubbing and minor scraping to

7.  [RACKHAM, ARTHUR] BARRIE, J. M.  PETER PAN IN KENSINGTON GARDENS. 
London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1906. Illustrated by Arthur Rackham 
with 50 color plates tipped in , all at rear of contents. First 
limited edition. Limited to 500, this is #70. Vellum with gilt 
pictorial stamping and lettering on the front board and gilt 
lettering at the spine with yellow silk ribbon ties at both boards. 
Housed in a custom-made tri-fold pull-case within a half morocco 
slipcase with gilt lettering, designs and marbled boards, probably by 
Sangorski & Sutcliffe. Signed by Arthur Rackham. 4to. [125 pgs] Near 
fine/Near fine/Near fine. From the collection of Frank Crowninshield, 
art editor of Century Magazine and personal friend to Arthur Rackham. 
He commissioned half-morocco slipcases, of different colors and 
styles to be custom-made for each of his Rackham books. First free 
end paper decorated by map of Kensington Gardens.  Boards are lightly 
soiled, the spine is slightly darkened. Raised  bands at spine of 
slip-case are rubbed. Ribbon ties are frayed. This has been called 
"50-plate extravaganza" and "one of Rackham's two masterpieces" (the 
other being A Midsummer Night's Dream) by Rackham scholars.

seven mounted color plates, twenty-four black & white drawings and 
pictorial end-papers. First limited edition. Limited to 105 copies, 
this is #37. Blue boards with vellum back, with blue paper title 
label.  Housed in a custom-made tri-fold pull-case within a half 
morocco slipcase with gilt lettering, designs and marbled  boards, 
probably by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. Signed by Margery Williams Bianco. 
4to. [175 pgs] Near fine/none/Near fine. From the collection of Frank 
Crowninshield, art editor of Century Magazine and personal friend to 
Arthur Rackham. He commissioned half-morocco slipcases, of different 
colors and styles to be custom-made for each of his Rackham books. 
Author of the Velveteen Rabbit. Page 17-21 torn at upper edge 2-3" 
with no loss. Light fading at top of front board, barely noticable. 
A few spots of soil to boards.  There was no English limited edition 
of this title. Very rare. Sold only 3 times at auction since 1975.
