1937.  First Edition. Printed gray wraps. Mann's reply to the Dean  of
the  University  of Bonn upon hearing that his Honorary Doctorate  had
been  annulled  due to his refusing to join the Nazi party.  INSCRIBED
and  SIGNED by the author on the title page opposite the  photographic
portrait  frontispiece  of Mann: "To my young  unknown  friend/Maurice
Le'on  iun/with  my  best wishes/N.Y. 22 IV 37 Thomas  Mann."  A  fine
inscription.  Wraps a little wrinkled and faded along the edges.  Very
Good or better.                                                $450.00
