(AUDEN, W. H.). PUBLIC SCHOOL VERSE. AN ANTHOLOGY.
VOLUME IV 1923--1924. London: Heinemann (1924). First
          Edition. Cloth-backed boards. Bloomfield & Mendelson B1: 500
copies printed. Auden's first appearance in print (his name
is given as W. H. Arden) is the poem in this book, "Woods in
Rain." Laid in are three interesting contemporary newspaper
reviews of the book provided by a clipping service, not one
of which mentions Auden's poem. Initials of original owner
on front endpaper. Paper spine label chipped affecting date.
Mild discoloration to boards and endpapers. Near Fine,
issued without dustwrapper, and quite uncommon. $450.00
