Greetings All,

For your consideration:
~
(No. 7534 ) Taylor, Tom (1817-1880). OUR AMERICAN COUSIN: A DRAMA, IN 3
ACTS.
New York: Samuel French, 1869 [1964?]. Wrappers, Duodecimo, 46 pages, ads.
Very good.
French's acting edition of the popular play that Lincoln was watching
when he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in 1865. The text is an early
1960's facsimile of the 1869 edition, which was the first printed appearance
of the play allowed by Laura Keene. Original cast from the 1858 opening at
Laura Keene's Theatre, New York, appears on verso of title page. The laugh
line which Booth used to cover his fatal pistol shot appears on page 37.
Bound in the yellow card covers with a saddle-stapled binding. A touch of
browning along spine, French's copyright caution notice on a red sticker at
top of page three. $75.00

'Jane Austen's books, too, are absent from this library. Just that one
omission alone would make a fairly good library out of a library that hadn't
a book in it.' - Mark Twain
