TWENTY-FIVE PICTURES ILLUSTRATIVE OF A PORTION OF THE BOOK OF GENESIS.
Boston: Charles E. Goodpseed, 1903. Limited edition, Hardcover, Folio, [31
pages], Black & white cuts. Good.
      An un-numbered copy from the limited edition of 185 copies printed on
hand-made paper, by D. B. Updike, at the Merrymount Press in Boston.
Side-by-side Latin and English texts of the Creation story accompanied by
Edward Burne-Jones's lovely pencil drawings as translated into pen and ink
by his longtime apprentice, Catterson Smith. The drawings were originally
done for a proposed Kelmscott Press edition which was shelved upon the death
of William Morris. Introduction by Philip Burne-Jones. Bound in tan paper
over boards backed with green cloth. Fore and bottom edges uncut. Rubs to
spine ends, some scattered finger soil, small area of shallow chipping along
fore edge of upper board. Prior owner name neatly penned on front pastedown,
faint foxing to endpapers, shallow dampness absorption line at lower fore
corner of rear pastedown but not affecting textblock.    $150.00
