      This classic economic history of the Chesapeake Bay region also
includes a wealth of information on everyday colonial life. The monumental
themes developed in this work have powerfully influenced subsequent study
and interpretation of the Chesapeake Bay region and the colonies that shared
its shores. See PRATT, EASTERN SHORE #459. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by Middleton
on front free endpaper. Bound in brown cloth over boards with gilt-stamped
spine and upper board. A few minor extremity rubs, some scattered dark brown
specks to fore edge of textblock, mild browning. Jacket has sun-fading to
spine, a 4" tear along spine which was taped from the back by a prior owner,
shallow chips at extremities, and a couple of short edge tears.    $75.00
