ff.lxxviii. Black letter, double column text. Illustrated with 39 large (full 
page) woodcuts (3 repeats) and 1 small one. Modern    vellum,   spine with 5 
raised bands. Title leaf a bit soiled. The first 2 woodcuts have been hand-colored 
in a somewhat pastel appearance (using orange, green & yellow). Some light 
marginal stains to a few leaves, and the final leaf with a few small wormholes 
just into the outer margin of a woodcut. One leaf (K1 verso) with 28 lines of 
early mss. notes. Overall a very nice, clean copy with good impressions of the 
woodcuts.     $12,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
This is the second edition (the first is 1507) of an important early woodcut 
book, the first book to be illustrated by H. L. Schaeufelein (1480-circa 
1540). Thirty of the large Passion subjects are by Schaeufelein. Other cuts are by 
Hans Baldung Grien and Wolf Taut. BL German STC p. 697. Procter 11132. Murray.
