Offering today a wonderful color lithograph C.K. Chesterton, from a "Vanity
Fair" Supplement of 1900, Men of the Day No. 1319. The dimensions are 15 1/5
by 11 1/2 with a nice large border for framing and retaining all wording.
This is an excellently done caricature of Chesterton in all his rotundness;
smoking a cigar, in full dress suit, a book in one pocket, scrolled paper
peeking out of his back pocket. He is wearing slippers and stripped socks,
one slipper is off. showing behind him. No chips, in wonderful condition,
the rear edges have tape to prevent tearing. The lithograph is not news
print, it is on heavier weight paper. Gilbert Keith Chesterton, (1874-1936),
one of England's leading literary figures, (essayist, critic, and author of
"Father Brown" detective series). Respected and praised by, George Bernard
Shaw, H.G. Wells, Bertrand Russell, Clarence Darrow, Hemingway, Waugh, and
many others. His friend G.B. Shaw called him a "colossal genius". $60.00
