      This unit (originally the 2nd Battalion, 166th Field Artillery) was
formed of five Pennsylvania National Guard batteries in January, 1941. After
training, being redesignated the 939th Field Artillery Battalion, and
participating in the Tennessee Maneuvers, the unit shipped for North Africa
in August, 1943. The 939th saw considerable action on the front lines in
North Africa, Italy, and Europe and this history includes valuable
information compiled both from personal reminiscences and from official
sources. The book is dedicated to the battalion's World War II commanding
officer, William S. Bailey, and is INSCRIBED and SIGNED by Bailey on
dedication page. Bound in printed tan card covers, stapled binding. A couple
of small stains to front cover. Uncommon.    $75.00
