MCKEE, JAMES HARVEY. BACK "IN WAR TIMES". HISTORY OF THE 144TH
REGIMENT, NEW YORK VOLUNTEER INFANTRY, WITH ITINERARY, SHOWING
CONTEMPORANEOUS DATE THE IMPORTANT BATTLES OF THE CIVIL WAR. Unadilla
NY: Privately Printed for Lieut. Horace E. Bailey, 1903. Illustrated
by half-tones and maps. First edition. Inscribed by one of the
regiment, Thomas Howland, Co. A. Fine. Includes complete roster.
Thomas Howland, the original owner of this book was a member of Co.
A. He has corrected, by hand, his entry in the roster and also wrote
this inscription on the half-title page, "Thomas Howland's Book. Cost
$2.80. Received it the last of Sept. 1903. It is not an accurate
history of the 144th NY. I have read it through and find some things
all right and others all wrong. It belittles many a battle and
skirmish. The Historian was not in it all. Thos. Howland". Aside
from a little cracking to the paper at the inner hinges, this book
looks like new. DORNBUSCH I, NEW YORK 546. $750.00
