Run Scared, by Eberhart, M. G. (Eberhart, Mignon, G.); Collins Crime Club,
London, 1969. First English Edition.Signed and inscribed by Eberhart to
f.e.p.:
A political thriller about Martha and Lem Bascom. Just before Lem started
his campaign for Governor his wife Martha was involved in a motoring
incident, a "hit and run". Which she was persuaded to say nothing about,
after all she couldn't be really sure she'd hit anything. But when the body
of the man in incident turns up very dead in the lake of Bascom's big house,
police and pressman swarmed. Scandal proliferated, yet it was too late for
Lem to withdraw his candidature. It was his fate, instead, to 'run scared'
in an election the he must surely lose after his wife's publicized, ignoble
crime.  Bright red cloth boards and spine, black lettering and Crime Club
illustration to spine. Upper spine end bumped. DW not price clipped, black
illustrated, with yellow title to front. Edges rubbed, short closed tear to
front and rear edges, Spine ends rubbed, few small chips. Rear DW state "Two
