THE COUNTY GENTLEMAN.  2 FOLIO CLOTH-BOUND VOLUMES CONTAINING A TOTAL OF 
OVER 160 TINTED LITHOGRAPHS FROM THIS BRITISH RURAL / SPORTING MAGAZINE, 
1880s ??  Except for the Countess of Yarborough and the Empress of Austria 
(both in riding habit), all the portraits are of men: Members of 
Parliament, prominent sportsmen, noblemen, soldiers, &c, &c.  Many are 
shown either in riding habit or with some accoutrement of the sport.  The 
most notable personage is The Prince of Wales. One lithograph is in full 
color - that of Mr. Tattersall, the founder of Tattersall's famous horse 
auction, and friend and entertainer of royalty (he is shown with the 
auctioneer's cane, his hand on a large stud book.)  Almost all the plates 
are quite clean and free from foxing, spotting, &c. The lithographer was 
Vincent  Brooks, Day & Son.  The bindings have some wear at the extremities 
of the spines.   $325.00
