(including the slightly taller atlas volume). Complete with all plates called for. 
Text volumes illustrated with 4 engraved folding maps, 62 engraved portraits, 11 
engraved plates (some double-page) and 26 tables (9 folding). The atlas volume 
contains 36 engraved plates (many double-page and folding views) including a 
very large map of St. Petersburg, and 16 printed tables. Cont. tree calf, gilt 
decorated spines with red calf labels. Spines of text volumes with some minor 
pinhole worming. Atlas volume with worming at foot of spine, front hinge with 
a split at bottom few inches, but overall a beautiful set.     $12,500.00

A very well illustrated, highly important reference source on all aspects of 
Russian life to the time of Catherine the Great. Le Clerc was a physician who 
traveled to Russia in 1759, and lived there for over 20 years. The rare sixth 
volume (part 3 of “Russie Moderne”) was issued much later, after the French
