Dawson, S.J. REPORT ON THE EXPLORATION OF THE COUNTRY BETWEEN LAKE SUPERIOR 
AND THE RED RIVER SETTLEMENT... Greenwood Publishing: 1968. "...and between 
the latter place and the Assiniboine and Saskatchewan". A facsimile of the 
1859 Canadian government report. The maps include one showing the routes 
for "road & navigation for connecting the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans" and a 
large folding map of the Lake Superior area. There are two plates of 
fossils. Hardcover. 10.5"x14", about 150 pages, plus 3 b/w single-page 
plates, 1 b/w and 2 color folding plates, and 2 b/w and 3 color folding

Galvin, John (ed.). A RECORD OF ARIZONA AND CALIFORNIA 1775-1776 -Fr. 
Francisco Garces. San Francisco; John Howell Books: 1967. 2nd ptg. Edition 
of 1500 copies. Translated from a manuscript account of the 11-month 
journey by Father Garces. Garces traveled almost 2,000 miles through the 
American southwest and along the Colorado River, converting natives, and 
scouting for the Spanish Crown. His records remain on of the most important 
18th century Western American travelogues. Garces would be beaten to death 
by Indians at his missionary post on the Colorado in 1781. Hardcover.
