MILLER, Henry. ORDER AND CHAOS CHEZ HANS REICHEL. New
Orleans (Tucson): Loujohn Press (1966). First Edition. Half
orange morocco. ONE OF ONLY 3 COPIES constituting the Orange
Oasis Edition (there were also issues of 11, 26, 99, and 1,
          399 copies. Shifreen & Jackson A157d. S&J A157a states that
three editions of this book are mentioned in the book's
colophon, but four others are not, including this, the
smallest. The limitation is stated by the publisher Jon Webb
on the colophon, dated August 1969. According to Shifreen
and Jackson, the proof of the existence of this edition
comes from a letter Webb wrote to Miller in July of 1968
regarding the remaining stock of the book: "Only Cork ed.
copies are left of Order & Chaos, except 1 copy of the
Orange Oasis (one of 3; you got one) and the two leathers
you signed to Lou [Webb] & me." This edition was not seen by
the bibliographers. Webb's colophon statement, which he also
writes on the publisher's box, adds some clarity:
"...because of financial reasons we, Jon and Louise Webb,
the editors designers & printers of this Henry Miller
previously unpublished book had, reluctantly, to sell our
own copies, but are pleased that the purchasers were special
people." Webb names Ben Sackheim as one of the purchasers,
and indeed this is his copy. Prospectus laid in. Bound in is
an envelope and two-page AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED by Miller
to Webb on one sheet discussing his latest work INSOMNIA. A
marvelously made book with different color papers and an
original photo of Miller by Ina Paulandre bound in. Laurence
Durrell provides an introduction. Needless to say,
exceptionally scarce! Fine in dustwrapper, slipcase, and
          publisher's original box. $2000.00
