      The first of only a few biographies of Laura Keene ever published.
Keene, of course, is best known in connection with the Lincoln assassination
and the play, Our American Cousin. This study of her life contains valuable
information on the workings of a 19th century touring company, anecdotes and
reminiscences of many theater people of the day, Ms. Keene's account of the
Lincoln assassination, and much more. Illustrated with 14 plates from
photographs, sketches, paintings, etc. Bound in maroon cloth over boards
with gilt-stamped spine and upper board. Some mild darkening toward top edge
of upper board, minor extremity rubs, endpapers have a few short splits
along hinges but hinges not cracked.    $100.00
