Among the many fine Spring New Arrivals posted on our web site
http://www.erols.com/agvent
PORTER, Cole. RED HOT AND BLUE. A MUSICAL COMEDY. New York:
Random House 1936. First Edition. Small folio (9" x 12-1/8") bound in
red, white, and blue silk over boards with gilt lettering on the
spine and front cover. Includes sheet music for ten of Porter's songs,
including "It's De-Lovely," from the Broadway musical that starred
Ethel Merman, Jimmy Durante, and Bob Hope. Copy #216 of only 250 (of
a total edition of 300) SIGNED by the great composer and lyricist.
This binding is notorious for wearing easily, especially along the
spine, and this is no exception, though it is better than customarily
found. The typical fraying along the spine edges has been neatly
repaired, and the gilt lettering is nearly all intact. Very Good or
better copy of a scarce title. $4000.00
And a less expensive copy with a few problems:
PORTER, Cole. RED HOT AND BLUE. A MUSICAL COMEDY. New York:
Random House 1936. First Edition. Small folio (9" x 12-1/8") bound in
red, white, and blue silk over boards with gilt lettering on the
spine and front cover. Includes sheet music for ten of Porter's songs,
including "It's De-Lovely," from the Broadway musical that starred
Ethel Merman, Jimmy Durante, and Bob Hope. Copy #175 of only 250 (of
a total edition of 300) SIGNED by the great composer and lyricist.
This binding is notorious for wearing easily, especially along the
spine, and this is no exception. Nearly all of the blue silk is
lacking from the bottom portion of the spine, but nearly all the read
above it remains with the gilt lettering spelling "Cole Porter"
nearly all intact. There is some fraying along the spine edges and at
the corners as well. There is light dampstaining at the front gutter
and bottom of the endpapers not extending beyond the title page and
heavy dampstaining at the rear gutter and endpapers extending several
pages in from the rear including the limitation page though it does
not come anywhere near the signature or any of the printed
information on that page. A Good copy of a scarce title at a very
attractive price. $1500.00
