1608. Illustrated by an engraved title page, 52 portrait engravings
by Christoffel von Sichem (born in Delft in 1580, died 1658) and
vignettes. First printing of first edition edition. Original early
seventeenth century calf binding, with gold tooled fillets and a
center emblem on both boards in gilt. Original leather spine label.
Retains original end papers. The first end paper has the contemporary
armorial bookplate of Samuel Vaughan. [Blank, [xxvi], 1415 (but

First end paper is a bit tattered, title page and following page have
a slight loss to the paper in the upper margins, not affecting text

hundred pages, not affecting text or engravings. Head of spine is a
bit frayed, with no loss. Altogether a beautiful unsophisticated copy
of a very scarce book. Only 6 libraries around the world have this
first printing in their collections, according to OCLC. STC 12375.
