KENDALL, G. W.. NARRATIVE OF THE TEXAN SANTA FE EXPEDITION,
COMPRISING A DESCRIPTION OF A TOUR THROUGH TEXAS.... New York: Harper
and Brothers 1846/1850. First published in 1844, these two volumes
are bound in identical green publisher's cloth, the first being a
later printing of the First Edition and the second a copy of the
Sixth Edition. Illustrated with a folding map (often removed) showing
the route of the first Santa Fe Expedition and five engraved plates.
Graff 2304; Howes K75; Raines p. 131: "No Texas library complete
without it"; Sabin 37360; Wagner-Camp 110: "the best first-hand story
of the ill-fated invasion of New Mexico in 1841, an unsuccessful
effort to extend the western border of the Republic of Texas to the
Rio Grande." Text virtually free of foxing. Minor worming to front
cover of the second volume resulting in three tiny holes penetrating
through to about page 20. Gilt on spines clear. A Very Good set of an
important work. $650.00
