HUXLEY, Aldous. THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION. New York: Harper &
Brothers (1954). Early but not first printing of the American edition,
published simultaneously with the British edition. SIGNED by the
author on the front free endpaper and dated 1957. This slim volume,
Huxley's first-hand description of his use of mind-altering mescalin,
had an immeasurable effect on the widespread acceptance of drugs in
the 1960s, helping to usher in the Psychedelic Movement and giving
birth to the name of at least one famous musical group. Indeed, this
title is considered to be the most influential single volume on
hallucinogenic drugs and is rarely found signed. Light staining to
gutters of endpapers from the glue used in the book. Dustwrapper with
some foxing and soiling but not much wear. Still Very Good in a Very
Good, price-clipped dustwrapper. $750.00
