ACTS PASSED AT A CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, BEGUN AND HELD AT THE
CITY OF NEW-YORK ... IN THE YEAR 1789. Hartford: Hudson and Goodwin 1791. Bound
in contemporary full calf recently and attractively rebacked with a new
gilt-lettered burgundy morocco spine label; [10], [3]-327, [90 blank] pages. One
of several 1791 issues printing all three Sessions of the historic First
Congress and including the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Articles of
Confederation and Declaration of Independence, and the Acts and Treaties
creating the legislative foundations of the National Government. Many of these
and other legislative acts printed here are signed in type by George Washington,
John Adams, and others. This printing not located by Evans or Sabin. Howes A-35
and Grolier American 100: 20 for the 1789 New York printing of this title, an
important one in the history of the United States government. Light to moderate
foxing throughout. The 45 blank leaves at the end indicate this copy may have
been designated in some capacity as an official copy. Owner name of Gorham
Harris on the frontpastedown. The front endpaper has a lengthy 1791 ownership
statement by Daniel Whiter. Near Fine, attractively bound. $3500.00
