titles and verso of final leaf. Later gilt decorated vellum, lightly soiled, 
brown morocco spine label. A.e.g. Closely trimmed at top margin. Title-page 
lightly soiled. Aldis library bookplate on front pastedown. Very scarce.

The third translation into French of Machiavelli’s Discourses, this one by 
the aristocrat and scholar Jacques Gohory (1520-1576). The second part is “The 
Prince,”(the fourth French printing) translated from the Italian into French by 
Gaspard d’Auvergne. Not in Adams or BL French STC. OCLC records one copy.
