copper engraved plates (9 single page and 10 double page), each with descriptive 
text. 19th century half calf over marbled boards, spine attractively gilt

One of the plate volumes to a circa 1770 4to. edition of Diderot’s 
ENCYCLOPEDIE. This volume has plates related to the military arts including 
fortification and armaments (cannon, etc.).
