1.    *WHITE, T. H. /THE SWORD IN THE STONE/*. Bound in original black 
cloth with white lettering on spine.  Black-&-white vignettes in text. 
Collins, London. 1938. 1st edition, 8vo, pp. 339. The first volume, 
preceding "The Witch in the Wood", in White's Arthurian trilogy. The 
boards are a trifle bumped at the corners and sl. scuffed. A bit of 
spotting to the bottom edge. Endpapers tight - front free endpaper has 
1940 ink inscription, and later owner's name in pencil. Contents 
otherwise clean and tight. Book in very good condition. The original 
dust jacket has two noticeble chips at the head and foot of the spine, 
and several smaller chips at the folds. The folds are also a bit rubbed, 
and there is some light general soiling. The flap has not been 
price-clipped. Overall, in good, to good plus, condition.

2.    *WHITE, T. H. /THE WITCH IN THE WOOD/*. Bound in original gray 
cloth with spine stamped in green. Black-&-white vignettes in text. 
Collins, London. 1940. 1st edition, 8vo, pp. 281. The second volume, 
following "The Sword in the Stone", in White's Arthurian trilogy. The 
binding is slightly cracked between pp. 112/113. The endpapers are 
tight. Small, neat, birthday inscription to front free endpaper. Trace 
of soiling to the head of the spine and along the top edge of the 
boards; else very good condition. The original dust jacket has been 
neatly price-clipped. There is a small piece excised from the foot of 
the spine and two small chips: one at the bottom edge of the front 
panel, and the other at the top, near the head of the spine. The folds 
are a bit rubbed, and there is some light general soiling. Overall, the 
jacket is in good minus, to good, condition.
