For your consideration: Four Volumes of Wagner's Opera's, from the library 
of Mary E. Garrett, 1885-1915, born into a family that was both wealthy and 
committed to philanthropy, (With Garrett's financial backing, the group of 
friends started the Bryn Mawr School for Girls in 1885); each volume is 
written in English and German; bound in blue flexible morocco covers, gilt 
title to front, inside dentelle all edges gilt, green and blue marbled 
e.p.s, leather and gilt ex-libris plate to front pastedown. Blank pages 
after opera have 19th century Playbills and Notices tipped and laid in. 
Owners notes, mainly in pencil to various text pages, fountain pen notes to 
various margins:

 TANNHAEUSER and The Tournament of Song at Wartburg. A Romantic Opera in 
Three Acts, composed by Richard Wagner, mild foxing to title page through 
page 1, hinge cracked at "Argument". With first quire loose, 1inch closed 
tear lower edge of first scene. Mild soil to front board, joint rubbed, 
upper spine end rubbed ¼ chip.

TRISTAN AND YSOLDE, Music=Drama in Three Acts, by Richard Wagner. 
Translation of the Poem, and of the Story of the Opera, By John P. Jackson. 
Extensive notes in fountain pen to top margins to beginning of first scenes. 
Lay in to page 9. "In consequence of the indisposition of Madam 
Schumann-Heink, Madame Louise Homer will sing the part of Brangaene this 
evening." Worm hole to page 22. Rubbing of front joint and spine ends, lower 
spine end1/4 closed tear at hinge. Mild rubbing of edges.

THE FLYING DUTCHMAN, A Romantic Opera In Three Acts. The English Version by 
Rev. J. Troutbeck. From the Vocal Score of Novello, Ewer & Co., London & New 
York. Charles F. Treatbar Publisher, Steinway Hall. Hinge starting at 
English/German title pages. Mild rubbing of hinge.

THE MASTER-SINGERS OF NUREMBERG. (Die Meistersinger Von Nuremberg.) Opera in 
Three Acts. With German and English words, and the Music of the Principal 
Airs. Oliver Ditson Company, Boston. Hinge cracked between pages of 
Characters and Preface. Closed 1 ½ inch tear to page 41 upper margin. Mild 
rubbing to spine and spine ends, few small rub spots to front board, corners 
rubbed. Each volume is tight in covers, even with the random notes. Circa 
1890's, 81 pp + blank pages to rear with playbills, articles, etc.
