1832.  First edition.  Old sheep, octavo, moderate wear, a few 
stains, 286pp.  Frontispiece, 2 full-page text-illustrations, & 
smaller illus's. (Barnum was also the author of "The Spy Unmasked," 
"Family Receipts", and other works.  For this present work he relied 
heavily on "The Library of Useful Knowledge," "with many additions 
adapting the whole to the present state of Farriery in the u.S."  He 
was also editor of "The Farmer's Reporter."  The Smithcors 
Collection, "Five Centuries of Veterinary Medicine" #136 describes it 
as "a generally sensible work."    $325.00
