SAINT EXUPERY, Antoine de FLIGHT TO ARRAS
Reynal & Hitchcock New York (1942) First Edition First American Trade Edition.
INSCRIBED and SIGNED by St. Exupery on the half title page: "Pour Pierre
Beddard/A qui la France - nous tous les/Francais - doivent tant/Avec ma fidele
et profonde amite/Antoine de Saint-Exupery." We translate as: For Pierre
Beddard/To whom France - all of us the/French - owe so much/With my loyal and
deep friendship." Alas, wehave been unable to find out just who Mr. Beddard was.
Trade editions of this book signed by St. Exupery are rather scarce, let alone
one with such a fine inscription. Cloth a little sunned on spine and along
edges. Spine of dustwrapper quite sunned with minor edgewear and a heavy
vertical creaseat the rear. Very Good in a Very Good dustwrapper. $2500
