"THE LIFE AND VOYAGES OF AMERICUS VESPUCIUS with Illustrations Concerning
the Navigator, and the Discovery of the New World." By C. Edwards Lester &
Andrew Foster. Published by Baker & Scribner: 1846. Yes, we're talking
about that Amerigo Vespucci, the man for whom the Americas are named. "The
Life and Voyages of Americus Vespucius" is a scholarly attempt to examine
the Vespucci controversy -did he or didn't he discover the American
mainland 6 days before John Cabot? Did he even make a voyage to America at
all?
Ending in a few days on Ebay-
"THE FIRST FOUR VOYAGES OF AMERIGO VESPUCCI. Translated from the rare
original edition (Florence, 1505-06); with some Preliminary Notices" By
M.K. Published in London by Bernard Quaritch in 1885. A translation of the
Florence, 1505 letter by Vespucci describing his four voyages to the
Americas, republished by the renowned London rare bookselling firm. The
text is augmented with essays on Vespucci's life and on the letters and his
voyages. The text is decorated with decorative woodcut headpieces of the
period, although the illustrations which appeared in the printed letters
are simply described.
No reserves.
