ANTI-SLAVERY SONGS: A SELECTION FROM THE BEST ANTI-SLAVERY
AUTHORS. Salem, Ohio: I. Trescott & Co., 1853. Octavo, sewn, 76, [2]
pages. Moderate water stain on a number of pages including the
title, but perfectly readable throughout. (Includes a number of
poems by Whittier, several by Pierpont and Elizabeth Chandler,
one by L.M.C. [presumably Lydia Maria Child], one by Garrison, &c,
&c. This 2nd [and apparently enlarged] edition is not in RLG; OCLC
locates only 3 copies [Johns Hopkins, Duke & Ohio U.] Trescott's
1849 edition had only 62 pages. Searching the AAS & LC
Catalogs does not bring up this title; in the case of the LC, perhaps
because the work has no copyright. Neither edition is listed in
"Afro-Americana." For many of the poems a popular melody is suggested
to which it might be sung.)
